On Thursday, October 28, 2021, the City held a training session on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) for its employees (deputy directors).
This training session was a continuation of the training session for managers held in FY2020 and 80 employees attended. The purpose of the event was to deepen the staff's understanding of the SDGs and to understand how the goals of the SDGs relate to the work they are in charge of.
In order to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection, participants were divided into two groups.
The lecturer was Mr. Minoru Makise, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Law at Kanto Gakuin University, who is also the city's advisor for regional revitalization and chairman of the Comprehensive Planning Council. Mr. Makise explained to the city officials what the SDGs are and how local governments should tackle them. It is important to recognize that the SDGs are the very initiatives that local governments are working on," he said.
The city is currently in the process of formulating a new basic plan, with the first year of the plan being FY2022. The draft plan will organize the relationship between each policy and the goals of the SDGs, and the city is promoting efforts to achieve the SDGs against this backdrop.
