＜Background＞
In April 2023, Higashikurume City launched horizontal recycling of plastic bottles called "Bottle to Bottle" in cooperation with Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Co.
"Bottle to Bottle" means that used plastic bottles are collected, recycled, and reused as beverage containers, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to making plastic bottles from petroleum-derived materials.

＜Overview of the initiative＞

• A portion of the used plastic bottles from the waste disposal process is handed over to a recycling company designated by Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Co. It is then used for horizontal recycling into new plastic bottled products using the old bottles as raw materials.
• The horizontally recycled plastic bottled products will be used at Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan plants.

• Reduction in the use of limited resources such as raw materials through repeated use and recycling
• Realization of recycling (visualization of recycling) with less environmental impact
• "Local production for local consumption of plastic bottles" by using manufactured plastic bottles at factories in Higashikurume City
